{"id":180051,"date":"2024-06-27T05:41:59","date_gmt":"2024-06-27T05:41:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/news.iium.edu.my\/?p=180051"},"modified":"2024-06-27T05:42:01","modified_gmt":"2024-06-27T05:42:01","slug":"arabic-theatre-night-by-cyat-delivers-heartfelt-performances","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.iium.edu.my\/?p=180051","title":{"rendered":"Arabic Theatre Night by CYAT delivers heartfelt performances"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong><em>By, Shaireza Jaafar<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>GOMBAK, 10 June 2024: The Council of Young Arabic Teachers (CYAT) organised an Arabic Theatre Night, featuring two interrelated performances concerning the conflict in Palestine on Saturday night (8 June 2024) in IIUM&#8217;s Wadi Budi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The three-hour event took the audience back to the past and then to the future, based on the premonition of the destruction felt by Khalifah Umar bin al-Khattab R.A. to the contemporary plight in Palestine, making it not merely a form of entertainment but also as a means to raise awareness of the brutality endured by the Palestinians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Program Manager, Liyana Yusoff, emphasised in an interview with IIUMToday that the two performances were adjusted to the issue of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, with the aim of unveiling to the audience on the Palestinian transition from tranquillity to catastrophe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cArabic Theatre Night is an annual event held by CYAT as an assessment requirement for students who are taking the Islamic literature course, particularly students who are majoring in Teaching Arabic as Second Language (TASL) and Islamic Education (ISED),\u201d explained Liyana.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"https:\/\/news.iium.edu.my\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/photo_2024-06-17_00-00-33-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-180053\" srcset=\"https:\/\/news.iium.edu.my\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/photo_2024-06-17_00-00-33-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/news.iium.edu.my\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/photo_2024-06-17_00-00-33-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/news.iium.edu.my\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/photo_2024-06-17_00-00-33-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/news.iium.edu.my\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/photo_2024-06-17_00-00-33.jpg 1280w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">First performance of Arabic Theatre Night, Zaitun Town.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>The first performance, titled, \u201cZaitun Town,\u201d delved into the past when Khalifah Umar bin al-Khattab R.A. had a dream about the destruction of Jerusalem, the demolishment of Al-Aqsa mosque and the sacrifice of many Muslim lives.
