CYBERJAYA, June 1, 2024: A team of sixteen IIUM participants comprising IIUMToday journalists, Communication students and IIUMToday’s Advisor, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Aida Mokhtar participated in a highly anticipated Content Code training session organized by the Communications and Multimedia Content Forum of Malaysia (CMCF). The session was designed to equip journalists with essential knowledge and skills for them to adhere to media content standards and regulations mentioned in the Content Code.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The training session was held in CMCF at Cyberjaya on the morning of Friday (31 May).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chief Executive Officer of CMCF, Madam Mediha Mahmood, conducted an interactive training session with the participants. She highlighted the importance of having the relevant information and skills to maintain the highest standards of professionalism and ethics as journalists and content creators while navigating the complexity of media regulations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

She showed many case studies of media regulation violations and explained the order of the Complaints Bureau in relation to the complaints of offensive media content.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, participants also learned about the “Quick Fix: 3As” approach, which involves Acknowledging the Error, Amending the Error immediately, and Apologizing for the Error. The media have to quickly apologise after making an error.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt is our job to uphold this principle, not only by maintaining the integrity of our profession but also by demonstrating our commitment to transparency and accountability in serving our audience. By doing so, we ensure that media outlets everywhere remain steadfast in adhering to regulations and avoid being overlooked,” said Madam Mediha.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The participants showed great interest in the program, evident by their active engagement in answering the numerous questions raised throughout this session. Their enthusiasm highlighted the relevance and importance of this training in creating an ethical and responsible media environment. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Madam Mediha Mahmood’s expertise and comprehensive guidance gave valuable insights, making the session an enriching experience for all 16 participants of the training.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Communications and Multimedia Content Forum of Malaysia (CMCF)<\/strong> was established in 2001, This  Content Forum is a self-regulatory organisation involved with important members in the communications and multimedia content sectors, including broadcasters, marketers, content producers and distributors, internet service providers, suppliers of audio text storage services, and civic organisations.The industry forum aimed at supervising and encouraging self-regulation of content over electronic networks was named the Content Forum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
