GOMBAK, 30 November 2023: \u0153My advice is that education goes beyond textbooks. We (the IIUM) have encompassed the humanising aspect in nurturing individuals not only so that they are academically proficient but also compassionate,\u009d said a member of IIUM Board of Governors, Professor Dr. Aminudin Che Ahmad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He mentioned this in his inspiring speech to graduands from the Kulliyyah of Engineering (KOE), Kulliyyah of Medicine (KOM) and Kulliyyah of Dentistry (KOD) in the fourth session of the 39th IIUM Convocation Ceremony, on Monday morning (27 November). The session took place at the IIUM Cultural Centre of IIUM Gombak.\u00c2\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Professor Dr. Aminuddin began his speech by conveying his warm congratulations to the graduands and advised them to create legacies so as to raise the dignity of <\/em>the ummah<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He aligned his speech with the Madani <\/em>concept, by highlighting the important process of intertwining learning with moral and ethical values; and the importance of aiming for good governance and sustainable development.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u0153Success is not easy to attain. Yang bulat tidak datang bergolek, Pipih tidak datang melayang.<\/em> We should strive for excellence, integrity, compassion and practise work ethics,\u009d he added.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He also advised the graduands to always be sincere. Do things for the sake of Allah and for the ummah<\/em>‘s benefit. For him, the world has become more and more challenging. Prof. Dr. Aminudin mentioned in spite of this, the graduands should maintain their obedience, be sabr<\/em> and redha <\/em>so that their lifelong learning process would be eased.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He invited all graduands to celebrate their success in their academic achievements as they truly deserved it. He also prayed for Allah to guide them in their future endeavours. \u0153Graduating is not the end, but the beginning of a more challenging and meaningful life,\u009d he mentioned. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He also reminded them to not forget to pray for their parents and relatives. For making dua<\/em> is the weapon of the Muslims. But he also said that dua<\/em> without putting in the effort to do things would be useless. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u0153Stay humble and apply good values that you have learned from the garden of knowledge and virtue. Remember you owe to your parents and lecturers for the sacrifices they had made to transform you into what you are today,\u009d he said.

He ended his speech with, \u0153May the next 40 years be further proof of the success of the IIUM legacy. As part of the alumni, keep holding onto the principles of Rahmatan lil \u02dcalamin<\/em> in every part of your life.
