KUALA LUMPUR, 8 June 2022 – Four outstanding Malaysian youths have been accepted to continue their studies at prestigious service academies in the United States (US) which would prepare them to become future Malaysian military officers, according to BERNAMA.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

They are former Royal\nMilitary College (RMC) students Qarin Loqman Safriza and Muhammad Danish Imran\nZainudin who will be attending the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another two students — Edlan Mikyad Ahmad Syamly and Zarif Mohd Zamrin who had recently completed their foundation programme at the National Defence University of Malaysia (UPNM) will enrol in the US Military Academy (West Point) in New York and US Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado, respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

US Embassy Charge d Affaires Michael Newbill who presented the four students with their certificates of appointment in a ceremony held at the embassy here on Tuesday (7 June), said 69 countries were invited to nominate candidates with the goal to enrol 15 students in each of the service academies this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u0153Less than 20 per\ncent of international applicants were selected. Congratulations to the cadets,\nand their families for their incredible achievement,\u009d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Zarif told BERNAMA that the opportunity has brought him one step closer to becoming a military officer, a lifelong ambition since he was 15 years old.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u0153If you strive to\nachieve the impossible, youd be amazed at how close you come to it. Do\nnot aim for the sky when there are footprints on the moon,\u009d he said of his\nstrong principle which has driven him to excel in all the rigorous and\ncompetitive selection processes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Concurring with\nZarif, Qarin Loqman said the passion and good time management skill has\nled him to achieve his target, especially on how best he can contribute to\nhis homeland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He also paid tribute\nto his father, a marine engineer, who he described as his best role model\nand who continues to inspire him to strive for excellence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u0153With all the\npositive mindset and thinking, all perseverance and hard work will be paid\noff. I truly believe in that and am glad that Im currently on track to\naccomplish what I want to do so much — marine technology,\u009d Qarin Loqman\nwho is also passionate about music and sports, said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are currently\nfive cadets from Malaysia in the US Service Academies, one at the US State\nMilitary Academy, two at the US Naval Academy and two at the US Air Force\nAcademy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All the four students\nfrom this years batch will graduate from the respective academies in\n2026.***<\/p>\n\n\n\n
