GOMBAK, 27 May 2022: Ensuring students of IIUM to engage in a healthy political discourse would be the ultimate goal for Asyraf Hakimi who won the seat of the Education office uncontested. 
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Asyraf Hakimi, a third-year student from Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws (AIKOL), the editor of Law Majalla <\/em>and the previous co-chairperson of the Academic Secretariat under Law Students Society (LAWSOC), is active in debate and mooting. 
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He believes that by running for the seat of the Education office, he can utilise the skills he has learned from the debate and mooting world for the benefit of the students. 
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The main purpose of his manifesto in nurturing a healthy political discourse is to uphold political education in the university. 
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u0153IIUM has a colourful political idea and ideology. We shall appreciate this and improve it to the next level,\u009d he said. 
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u0153Currently, IIUM has been acknowledged as one of the best debate universities globally. Not to mention the IIUM alumni who have become great politicians and debaters,\u009d he added.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Therefore, Asyraf Hakimi aspires to make \u02dcpolitical debate as the culture or an ongoing practice among all IIUM students. The culture that portrays clean, mature and valuable politics. 
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aside from that, he also unveils his other manifesto which is the centralisation of internship data for easy access to information. His goal is to garner more involvement and input from industry or private sectors which could benefit students. 
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In regards to the manifesto, he mentioned that he has started discussing with a few organisations and known private sectors. 
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He told IIUMToday in an interview that \u0153there are a lot of private sectors that want to contribute to IIUM students”. 
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although he could not reveal the companys name, he pointed out that \u0153there is one digital private company that is already interested to be involved and help improve students educational access.\u009d
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When asked about the trustworthiness of his manifesto, Asyraf Hakimi believes that he has been proven trusted in executing the manifesto and raising students’ voices. 
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u0153During my tenure as co-chairperson of academic LAWSOC, there was one issue regarding the handwritten examination policy in AIKOL. 
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I was given the trust to present and negotiate with the kulliyyah, and I presented the concern of the students to the management of the kulliyyah.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They decided to abolish the said policy, thus replacing it with a new one suggested by students,\u009d he mentioned. 
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Therefore, Asyraf Hakimi believes that he has the capability to negotiate and the competence in handling issues related to students education. Thus, students \u0153can trust me that I will execute my manifesto,\u009d he said. 
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Asked about what defines a good leader, Asyraf Hakimi pointed out that a great leader is someone who can prove to be a mentor to everyone in an organisation and inspire others to be a better person.***
