{"id":165457,"date":"2022-05-26T02:24:09","date_gmt":"2022-05-26T02:24:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/news.iium.edu.my\/?p=165457"},"modified":"2022-05-26T02:24:13","modified_gmt":"2022-05-26T02:24:13","slug":"rafiq-shahmie-says-his-main-concern-is-students-basic-needs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.iium.edu.my\/?p=165457","title":{"rendered":"Rafiq Shahmie says his main concern is student&#8217;s basic needs"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong><em>By Wan Nurul Atiqah <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>GOMBAK, 25 May 2022:  What matters most to him is that students get the the basic needs, hence, running for the seat is the right way for him to make a positive contribution, said Mohammad Rafiq Shahmie, who won uncontested the seat for Vice President I in the IIUM Student Union Election 2022.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A fourth-year student from Kulliyyah of Economics and Management Sciences (KENMS), Rafiq Shahmie has been enthusiastic in the student movement since joining the university in his first year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That included his involvement as a Vice President I of the Economics and Management Sciences Society (ECONSS) 2020\/2021, as Chairperson of the Bachelor of Council 2019\/2020, representing IIUM as KPMG ambassador, as well as representing Malaysia as Delegate for ASEAN University Student Council Union.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For this tenure, he said, he has a strong devotion to fulfil students&#8217; needs covering welfare and academic matters. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u0153To achieve all that, we need strong and healthy finances for our union,\u009d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Focusing on sustaining the financial development of the student union, Rafiq emphasised that his manifesto comprises three stages; the early stage, the middle stage, and the late stage. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said the first stage is to carry out pilot tests on a few financial fronts such as vending machines, stalls or a basic shop.
