GOMBAK, 30 January 2022: There are a number of recycling initiatives conducted in IIUM Gombak campus that are not known to all students, programme manager of IIUM Recycle Alert, Illya Nadzhirah Binti Jaafar revealed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the aim to promote recycling in campus, the Recycle Alert campaign organised by IIUM Eco Club is set to officially launch on 31 January and continue until the end of February 2022. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Illya, who is\nalso the Vice President 1 in IIUM Eco Club tenure 2021\/2022, shared that the club\nworks as the pivotal hub for students to actively learn and participate in the environmental\ninitiatives, as well as partake in making IIUM a truly sustainable university. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u0153We hope this project may bring and increase the awareness of IIUM students towards the recycling campaign on campus,\u009d Illya said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

To ease the\nprocess of recycling, the following initiatives are going to be offered: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. Turn Your Trash To Cash<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

On a weekly basis, a recycling truck will visit the\nMahallahs in campus to collect recyclable items. In exchange of recycling,\nstudents will receive cash. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. E-Waste<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

To properly dispose of E-waste and help protect the\nenvironment, students will be able to drop off their old electronic devices at\nICT Services Help Desk, ITD IIUM Gombak. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. Food Waste<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Instead of throwing away unwanted food, students will\nbe able to partake in the food waste recycling collection service at any Mahallah\nCaf\u00c3\u00a9. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

IIUM Eco Club, formerly known as LeEco Movement, was founded by a group of students from Kulliyyah of Economics and Management Sciences (KENMS) with the aim to educate and collaborate with people and organisation within the campus to create a community with greener lifestyle and to protect and sustain the ecological stability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The clubs vision is to make IIUM as the leading example for an ideal embodiment of sustainable living and environmental awareness perfectly aligned with the university’s sustainable development goals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
