GOMBAK, 7 November 2021: Communication skill was among leadership competencies which taught her to interact with other members of the club in a professional manner and be more tolerant of other people’s mistakes, former Vice President 2 of Inspire Club, Nur Fadhilah shared during Instalk Alumni 2.0.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nur Fadilah, a final year student of the Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws (AIKOL), held the post of Inspire Club’s Vice President 2 for the term 2018\/2019. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Instalk Alumni 2.0 was held last Friday (5 November), organised by Steadfast club in collaboration with IIUMToday, Inspire Club and Che’gu TV. The programme was hosted by Maria Azhar, a member of Steadfast Club. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, Muhammad Shaifudin said, “What convinced me to be the president of Steadfast Club is the club itself. I intended to grab every opportunity that came in my way and created a good change whenever it was needed.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He was giving his views in response to the moderator’s question about being a student leader. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“In my case, I was strongly determined to change the term ‘newbies’, a term given for the new comers, into a more sophisticated term, and I successfully achieved my goal as new members of Steadfast club are now known as pelapis<\/em>,” Shaifuddin explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Muhammad Shaifuddin completed his bachelor’s degree in Electronics (Computer and Information Engineering) in IIUM and is now working as a solution engineer at Techdata Systems Sdn Bhd. He was the President of Steadfast Club for the term 2014\/2015. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the other hand, in responding to the same question, Fadhilah said that she did not choose to be a leader. When she was elected as Vice president 2 of Inspire Club, she started questioning herself that “we tend to see the potential in others but not in ourselves”. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hence, Fadilah said, “I told myself that I should start believing in myself more and take up this challenge. This could help to enhance more on my leadership skills.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Asked about the programmes that left an impact in their lives, Fadhilah shared that participating in a programme such as ‘Outreach” took her to visit places and randomly approached any teens that they saw. The programme was considered as ‘go-to hangout spots’ for teenagers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I came across two young boys and approached them. We played a little game and continued to hang out with them. After a while, they started to open up about their life and shared their problems. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

‘Outreach’ might just be a brief programme, but its impact was remarkable. It changed your views and perspective about people and life in general,” explained Fadhilah. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shaifudin also shared his experience as programme coordinator of Malaysia-Cambodia Educational Project (MACE) 2014, where he had to plan the whole programme flow, right from the very beginning until the very end of it. It taught him a lot on how to coordinate programme smoothly. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Asked about preparations needed before stepping up as the club’s leader, Fadhilah said: “You need to prepare yourself physically and mentally and manage your time well. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

You should be aware of your mission and vision and know well about your job scope by asking more from your fellow seniors.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shaifudin remarked that he believed that one should gain as much knowledge he\/she could before taking up any position. One can gain knowledge through various means such as through following YouTube and reading books. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Bear in mind that holding a higher position means a heavier responsibility,” Shaifudin added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Instalk Alumni 2.0 was attended by a total of 72 participants which was conducted live via YouTube. ***<\/p>\n\n\n\n
