{"id":155286,"date":"2021-08-28T13:29:51","date_gmt":"2021-08-28T13:29:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/news.iium.edu.my\/?p=155286"},"modified":"2021-08-28T15:13:58","modified_gmt":"2021-08-28T15:13:58","slug":"former-chief-secretary-tun-ahmad-sarji-dies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.iium.edu.my\/?p=155286","title":{"rendered":"Former Chief Secretary Tun Ahmad Sarji dies"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><em><strong>By Siti Solehah<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>KUALA LUMPUR, 28 August 2021: Former Chief Secretary of the government (Ketua Setiausaha Negara or KSN), Tun Ahmad Sarji Abdul Hamid passed away at 1.40 am today. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The sad news was revealed by the Chief Secretary of the government, Tan Sri Mohammad Zuki Ali through a Facebook post. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He described the late Tun Ahmad Sarji as a highly respected public administration figure and noted that his passing is a great loss to the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tun Ahmad Sarji was admitted to the intensive care unit of Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz (UKM) in Cheras due to the complications from COVID-19.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tun Ahmad Sarji served as the Chief Secretary to the government from 1990 to 1996 during the administration of Malaysias fourth Prime Minister, Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After retiring, Tun Ahmad Sarji was appointed as Chairman of the Institute of Islamic Understanding Malaysia (Institut Kefahaman Islam Malaysia or IKIM) and Chairman of Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>May Allah bless Tun Ahmad Sarji Abdul Hamid with bountiful blessings and place him among the righteous ones.
