{"id":147704,"date":"2021-01-11T16:08:51","date_gmt":"2021-01-11T16:08:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/news.iium.edu.my\/?p=147704"},"modified":"2021-01-11T16:08:55","modified_gmt":"2021-01-11T16:08:55","slug":"covid-19-update-2232-new-cases-cumulative-cases-third-highest-in-se-asia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.iium.edu.my\/?p=147704","title":{"rendered":"COVID-19 Update: 2,232 new cases, cumulative cases third highest in SE Asia"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong><em>By Nabila Natasha<\/em><\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>GOMBAK, 11 January 2021: Malaysias 2,232 new COVID-19 infections meant that its cumulative number of cases is the third highest in South East Asia after Indonesia and Philippines. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At a press conference today, Health Director-General, Tan Sri Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah said the country now has 138,224 confirmed cases since the start of the pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The world figures are led by the United States, which has recorded about 22.5 million cases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Today, Malaysia saw four more COVID-19 deaths, three were in Selangor and one in Sabah, bringing the death toll to 555. Meanwhile, six cases were imported, while the rest are local transmissions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The number of people with active COVID-19 infections in Malaysia has surged to 28,554.
