GOMBAK, 23 November 2020: Future interns, especially among final year students, who will soon graduate and join the industry, had the opportunity to gain working knowledge from a professional in a workshop session conducted live on webinar today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The talk featuring corporate trainer and image consultant, Mr. Asnawi Yusof, focused on the importance of putting on the best self-image and a guidance on simple steps to be hired.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As future job seekers, students were told to equip\nthemselves with some essentials like building a connection with people who are\nalready established in the industry in ensuring that they would gain\nemployment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Asnawi said: \u0153Building connection is crucial especially during today’s pandemic when so many people are looking for jobs. By having a good connection with a professional figure, it may help you in securing a job.\u009d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The speaker encouraged the students to start by strengthening their online connection through LinkedIn profile where it should be a good opportunity to amaze and attract professionals to visit their profile. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adjusting and customising their resume according to job requirement would help students likely to be called for job interview, Asnawi said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Later, Asnawi shared three follow-up steps where asking about the application, finding out the status of application, and thanking the organisation for the interview session, could aid chances for job opportunity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In line with the title of the webinar, “Personality Grooming: The Art of Looking Smart & Getting Hired” students were reminded to ensure that they present themselves well in terms of self-grooming before attending a job interview as the candidates are judged by their appearance and impression they created during the interview.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u0153It is your right to decide how to style yourself but it is also the company’s right to decide which style they want to bring in,\u009d Asnawi stressed. “This is to indicate the importance of self-primp as the appearance leads to first impression.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the light of new norms currently practised by organisations following the COVID-19 pandemic, the speaker shared a few tips on how graduates should present themselves during online interview. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Asnawi said: \u0153Undergoing an online interview requires a lot of practice because of its new setting where the interviewee needs to adjust to the professional environment where some might find it difficult.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The two-hour sharing session, which saw active engagement by participants during the question and answer session, was attended by 72 students and organised by Communication internship class. ***<\/p>\n\n\n\n
