{"id":134127,"date":"2019-11-15T03:13:29","date_gmt":"2019-11-15T03:13:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/news.iium.edu.my\/?p=134127"},"modified":"2019-11-15T03:13:36","modified_gmt":"2019-11-15T03:13:36","slug":"e-sports-an-industry-not-a-lifestyle","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.iium.edu.my\/?p=134127","title":{"rendered":"E-sports an industry, not a lifestyle"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><em><strong>By Ahmad Sissoho and Hakim Mahari<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>GOMBAK, 15 November 2019: In efforts to educate the community on how E-sports works, the founder of the E-sports news portal <em>Whats the Meta?&nbsp;<\/em>Mariah Ahmad stressed that the bad stigma against E-sports should be denied.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the dialogue session held recently, a former journalist of Astro Awani, Mariah Ahmad said, &#8220;Due to the era of Industrial Revolution 4.0, E-sports should not be seen as a lifestyle; people may play for fun but E-sport is an industry where people are able to gain income to support their financial situation.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mariah advised E-sports players to be more holistic and embrace their interest in the E-sports industry passionately. &#8220;If you want people to take you seriously, you should take it for serious first,\u009d she added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The stage was shared with a professional FIFA player, Amirul Afandi or known as Amtuah.
