GOMBAK, 12 June 2018: \u02dcRead- Understand- Apply Al-Quran. A tagline to create the world of compassion on the World Quran Hour at Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah (SHAS) Mosque recently (7 June) had proved the significance of the Mosque as the centre of solidarity.<\/p>\n

Hosted by the IIUM alumni, the programme was attended by special guests, the Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah, Education Minister, Dr. Maszlee Malik, Members of Parliament, Syed Saddiq Abdul Rahman and Nurul Izzah Anwar, and former IIUM President, Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim.<\/p>\n

The event was aimed at encouraging people to spend one hour with Al-Quran daily. Most of the participants took the opportunity to show their unity towards this holy scripture.<\/p>\n

\u0153I want to enliven the month of Ramadan by reading the Quran together with all Muslims,\u009d said Noorol Ezah Abdullah who came from Ampang with her residents’ group.<\/p>\n

\u0153My intention is to join the Quran Hour to show respect towards the Quran,\u009d expressed Dr. Elmira Akhmetova, one of IIUM lecturers, reminding that it should be joined by all as it really motivated them.<\/p>\n

According to Dr. Elmira, the Quran Hour had touched the hearts of Muslims through its equality value which is the miracle of Quran and Islam for the ummah.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u0153The Quran unites all lecturers, scholars, students, and administrative staff, regardless of their race or ethnicity, economic status, gender or age,\u009d Dr. Elmira added showing her positive review of the event.<\/p>\n

Because of the extensive publicity, the event had attracted large participation of students who wanted \u0153to feel the solidarity among Muslims,\u009d said Amirul Imran Amir Rudin from the Kulliyyah of IRKHS.<\/p>\n

\u0153Recitation of Al-Quran can put a student’s heart in tranquility,\u009d Amirul who attended the event told IIUMToday, when met together with his friends from the Kulliyyah.<\/p>\n

The event was a collaboration of i-Masjid, JKQ and ISRAK society, and started at 10.30 a.m with the arrival of the guests and participants, and ended at 12.50 p.m with a pledge recitation led by Syed Saddiq Abdul Rahman, who was also an IIUM alumnus, which was broadcast live on Astro Oasis television channel.<\/p>\n

Earlier on 4 June, a programme on \u02dcDistribution of Bubur Lambuk was carried out by i-Masjid which had been successfully promoted by SHAS Mosque to reflect its role as the centre of brotherhood among campus community.<\/p>\n

This annual event was symbolic for the fasting month which had gathered volunteerism from among students, Daya Bersih and IIUM staffs, for the \u02dcgotong-royong.<\/p>\n

\u0153This programme was a great means to foster relationship among them. The high spirit of students volunteerism was also seen despite they being busy with their final exam,\u009d noted Programme Manager, Nurwahidah Jamil, agreeing on the programme as a symbol of IIUM identity held every Ramadan.***<\/p>\n
