{"id":121127,"date":"2018-04-21T01:32:44","date_gmt":"2018-04-20T17:32:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/news.iium.edu.my\/?p=121127"},"modified":"2023-07-21T04:11:49","modified_gmt":"2023-07-21T04:11:49","slug":"intimate-sharing-session-with-ex-djs-faizal-ismail-and-fara-fauzana","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.iium.edu.my\/?p=121127","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;Intimate Sharing Session&#8217; with ex-DJs Faizal Ismail and Fara Fauzana"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><strong>By Ainu Shafira<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>GOMBAK, 21 April 2018:\u00c2\u00a0Communication students on Friday (20 April) had an &#8220;Intimate Sharing Session&#8221; with famous ex-Hot.fm DJs, Faizal Ismail and Fara Fauzana, where they were reminded of the significance of social media in this present age.<\/p>\n<p>Both Faizal and Fara admitted that they did not have any competitor then to enter the broadcasting industry compared to the present generation these days as there are a lot more competitors now such as the &#8216;instafamous&#8217; and the social influencers.<\/p>\n<p>They said that these people now used the social media as the medium to show their talents. Moreover, &#8220;they also have many followers and viewers&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>The &#8220;Intimate Sharing Session&#8221; was organised by IIUM.fm and held from 11 a.m until 12 noon at IIUM.fm office. Around 45 students, including communication lecturers, attended the sharing session to enliven the event.<\/p>\n<p>Students were specifically told that these days the social media is the biggest platform people used to gain information more than watching television or listening to radio.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Obviously, communication students nowadays have a bigger competition, so you guys should think of a bigger goal,&#8221; said Fara Fauzana.<\/p>\n<p>Faizal Ismail added, &#8220;Your social media is your station, so use your station to compete with others.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;To make your own platform, you need to learn both. So, take up the challenge, try to balance between study and acquiring of skills.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Faizal said that the broadcasting industry these days is like a small tunnel where a lot of people around Malaysia want to enter.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;If you want to make your own platform, you need guidance.
