{"id":121005,"date":"2018-04-18T08:42:38","date_gmt":"2018-04-18T00:42:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/news.iium.edu.my\/?p=121005"},"modified":"2018-04-18T09:02:29","modified_gmt":"2018-04-18T01:02:29","slug":"14th-ge-students-get-three-days-holidays-to-exercise-their-rights-to-vote","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.iium.edu.my\/?p=121005","title":{"rendered":"14th GE: Students get three days holidays to exercise their rights to vote"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em>By Awwabin Zainuddin<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>GOMBAK, 18 April 2018: In conjunction with the upcoming 14th General Election, the university authority has agreed to the request made by the\u00c2\u00a0Students&#8217; Representative Council (SRC) for students to be given three days holidays from 8<span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">\u00c2\u00a0to\u00c2\u00a0<\/span>10 May.<\/p>\n<p>The government has declared 9 May as a public holiday, thus the university has agreed to give students holidays on 8 and 10 May so that eligible voters from among the students could exercise their rights in the forthcoming general election.<\/p>\n<p>This was recently announced by IIUM Rector, Prof. Dato Sri Dr. Zaleha Kamarudin.
