{"id":120804,"date":"2018-04-05T21:59:56","date_gmt":"2018-04-05T13:59:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/news.iium.edu.my\/?p=120804"},"modified":"2018-04-05T23:01:58","modified_gmt":"2018-04-05T15:01:58","slug":"forum-to-discuss-issues-on-fake-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.iium.edu.my\/?p=120804","title":{"rendered":"Forum to discuss issues on fake news"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><strong>By Adilah Darus<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>GOMBAK, 5 April 2018 &#8211; A forum on &#8220;Socio, Legal and Political Landscape: Media Literacy and Fake News&#8221;, will be held tomorrow (Friday) from\u00c2\u00a009.00 a.m to 12.00 noon in IIUM campus here.<\/p>\n<p>Organised by the Department of Communication, Kulliyyah of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences (KIRHS) in collaboration with IIUMToday, and held at ADM LT 5, HS building, the forum will focus on issues of fake news and spread of false information which has now become a major global concern following the advent of Internet and development of social media.<\/p>\n<p>Three prominent speakers\u00c2\u00a0 have been invited as panelists &#8211; Dr. Nik Salida Suhaila binti Nik Saleh, the Commissioner of the Human Rights Commission of Malaysia (SUHAKAM), Professor Dr. Ezhar Tamam of Universiti Putra Malaysia&#8217;s Faculty of Modern Language and Communication, and Assoc.
