GOMBAK, 28 September 2017: KIRKHS in collaboration with IIUM SHAS Mosque recently (26 September) held a “Seminar Nusantara on Islam and Higher Education” to welcome visitors from <\/span>Institute Agama Islam Negeri (IAIN) Samarinda, Indonesia<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to its committee member, <\/span>Muhammad Rajiv Syarif<\/span>, who is the Vice President of Indonesian Student Association (PPI) IIUM, the objective of the event was to <\/span>collaborate between two Islamic higher education institutions of\u00c2\u00a0<\/span>both <\/span>c<\/span>ountries<\/span>. <\/span><\/p>\n

Held\u00c2\u00a0<\/span>at Mini Auditorium, t<\/span>he speakers of <\/span>the <\/span>seminar <\/span>were among <\/span>Indonesia<\/span>ns<\/span>\u00c2\u00a0and Malaysia<\/span>ns<\/span>. <\/span><\/p>\n

Representing IIUM were the\u00c2\u00a0<\/span>Deputy Dean Student Affairs KIRKHS,\u00c2\u00a0<\/span>Dr. Muhammad Fuzi Omar and the Director of IIUM Mosque<\/span>, <\/span>Assoc. Prof Abdul Salam Muhammad Shukri<\/span>. M<\/span>eanwhile from Indonesia<\/span>,<\/span>\u00c2\u00a0the<\/span>y were <\/span>Dr. Iskandar M. Ag. <\/span>a<\/span>nd Dr. M. Nasir M. Ag. <\/span>The Deputy Director of IIUM SHAS Mosque<\/span>, <\/span>Dr. Raudlotul Firdaus Fatah Yasin also attended th<\/span>e <\/span>seminar. <\/span><\/p>\n

In the presentation, Dr Iskandar, M. Ag. <\/span>e<\/span>mphasised that the function of education <\/span>is as\u00c2\u00a0<\/span>agent of change for the society. <\/span>\u0153<\/span>To destroy a state is like destroying the education curriculum<\/span>,\u009d he said.<\/span><\/p>\n

From the IIUM side, Dr. Muhammad Fuzi Omar talked about the integration between Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Huma<\/span>n<\/span>\u00c2\u00a0Sciences education <\/span>i<\/span>n IIUM. <\/span><\/p>\n

He mentioned the importance of politics<\/span>\u00c2\u00a0for every citizens by quoting from the scholar <\/span>Aristo<\/span>t<\/span>le<\/span>,\u00c2\u00a0<\/span>\u0153<\/span>If the citizen does not know about politi<\/span>c<\/span>, he or she is a bit stupid.<\/span>\u009d<\/span><\/p>\n

During <\/span>the <\/span>seminar, the whole available seats were occupied by IIUM students as well as some students of IAIN Samarinda, Indonesia. The Q&A session was interestingly carried out. One of participants asked about the guidance for preventing a person from deviated ideolog<\/span>ies<\/span>\u00c2\u00a0such as liberalism, secularism, etc.<\/span><\/p>\n
