GOMBAK, 6 May 2017: A two-day photography exhibition was recently held from 3 to 4 May at the Department of Communication to showcase students works of professional photographs taken to enhance their skills in journalism studies.<\/p>\n

The photo exhibition was held at the Human Sciences yellow area beside the Video Communication Lab. At the exhibition, all the photographs that were snapped by photojournalism students as their course requirement were displayed on the partitions. There were a total of 21 partitions which displayed the photographs taken by the students at the exhibition.<\/p>\n

The course instructor for Photojournalism (COMM 3650), Nur Nadia Abd Mubin said, \u0153Alhamdulilah, although we did not manage to get partitions from \u02dcDaya Bersih because they overbooked the partitions, students helped to look for broken partitions to be used for the exhibition. That’s entirely their effort.\u009d<\/p>\n

\u0153The photos were mostly dark because of the print. Students worked together to make it happen and the exhibition was successful as it caught the attention of students and lecturers. Besides, the location plays a role too in attracting the crowd,\u009d she added.<\/p>\n

All the photos taken and displayed during the exhibition were judged by the two professional photographers from the industry who had wide experiences in the field of photojournalism.<\/p>\n

Some of the comments from the professionals stated that all students have done excellent job. They admitted that the photographs even came up with very good captions. For example, the photos taken by one of the students, Muhammad Amirulhisham Mohd Badrulhisham, received a good comment which indicated that the photos taken by him have both the elements of photography and photojournalism as they contained a good story and captions.<\/p>\n

Another student who was involved in this exhibition, Maryam Spahic, stated in her comment that \u0153the exhibition was interesting as I got to see other people’s eye for news, and how they perceive their surroundings”.<\/p>\n

“Some people took photos of things I would have never even thought of capturing,\u009d Maryam added.<\/p>\n

Besides, she also said, \u0153This exhibition should definitely continue as it has attracted many people. Nowadays people don’t really like or have time to read, so they enjoy looking at photographs. So, an exhibition like this will always get people interested and they will eventually learn a thing or two about photojournalism.\u009d<\/p>\n

The photo exhibition has brought such a great impact to the students as they tend to share what they have learned from photojournalism subjects. It had also brought people from other Kuliyyah to support and given useful feedbacks for the exhibition. “Therefore, this photojournalism exhibition had proven itself to provide golden opportunities for those who wanted to become photojournalists,” Nur Nadia said.<\/p>\n

Photo journalism student, Najiyah Abdul Razak said, \u0153I was not expecting that the crowd would leave so much impressions and compliments about the photos because we are also in the process of learning and there are still so much that we need to improve.\u009d<\/p>\n

\u0153However, having the crowd to support us and even willing to learn about photojournalism is totally precious for each one of us,\u009d she said. ***<\/p>\n
