{"id":114061,"date":"2017-03-28T13:30:47","date_gmt":"2017-03-28T05:30:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/news.iium.edu.my\/?p=114061"},"modified":"2017-03-27T13:31:02","modified_gmt":"2017-03-27T05:31:02","slug":"chinese-university-looking-to-establish-centre-for-confucianism-in-iium","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.iium.edu.my\/?p=114061","title":{"rendered":"Chinese university looking to establish Centre for Confucianism in IIUM"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><strong>By Mahadhir bin Monihuldin<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>GOMBAK, 27 March 2017: A university from China named Hebei University is planning to open a Centre for Confucianism in IIUM under the Department of Usul al-Din and Comparative Religion.<\/p>\n<p>Dean of Kulliyyah of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences (KIRKHS), Prof. Dr. Rahmah binti Ahmad H. Osman told IIUMToday that this initiative was brought forth by Hebei Universitys Research Centre for Social Development of Islamic Countries in the hope of promoting peace and moderation among people.<\/p>\n<p>\u0153They were looking for an alternative aside from negotiating with parties from the Middle East. They looked at us and saw us as that alternative,\u009d Prof. Rahmah said.<\/p>\n<p>Confucianism is a way of life taught by the Chinese philosopher Confucius (Kong Fuzi) in China during the 6th-5th century BCE. It has deeply influenced spiritual and political life in China, Korea, Japan, and many more.<\/p>\n<p>Prof. Rahmah herself admires the doctrine that is Confucianism and shares this admiration of hers.<\/p>\n<p>\u0153If you look at the sayings of Confucius, its just so meaningful,\u009d she said, adding, \u0153Isnt that promoting interfaith values?
