{"id":109069,"date":"2016-09-18T12:00:10","date_gmt":"2016-09-18T04:00:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/news.iium.edu.my\/?p=109069"},"modified":"2016-09-18T09:52:44","modified_gmt":"2016-09-18T01:52:44","slug":"src-polls-scheduled-on-22-september","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.iium.edu.my\/?p=109069","title":{"rendered":"SRC polls scheduled on 22 September"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><strong>By Hamka Rosli<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>GOMBAK, 18 September 2016: IIUM students would go to the polls on 22 September to elect their representatives to the Students Representative Council (SRC) for the 2016\/2017 session, as endorsed by the Student Affairs Committee (SAC) meeting No. 2\/2016.<\/p>\n<p>The election process gives the opportunity for students to exercise their democratic rights to choose their representatives who will speak and act on their behalf. As someone who live in a democratic state, it is wise to take this opportunity to understand the concept of democracy.<\/p>\n<p>Voting eligibility will be checked during\u00c2\u00a0the electoral registration compiled by the University. For this\u00c2\u00a0purpose, a voter must prove his or her identity with a student card or an identity card with\u00c2\u00a0a\u00c2\u00a0photograph and a matric card number.<\/p>\n<p>Those who failed to provide the requested validation will not be eligible to vote.
