{"id":109040,"date":"2016-09-18T14:00:14","date_gmt":"2016-09-18T06:00:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/news.iium.edu.my\/?p=109040"},"modified":"2016-09-18T22:15:04","modified_gmt":"2016-09-18T14:15:04","slug":"discussion-on-cerminan-peribadi-mahasiswa-based-on-hamkas-thought","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.iium.edu.my\/?p=109040","title":{"rendered":"Discussion on &#8220;Cerminan Peribadi Mahasiswa&#8221; based on Hamka&#8217;s thought"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><strong>By Syakir Nizam<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>GOMBAK, 18 September 2016: A discussion known as <em>Warong: Cerminan Peribadi Mahasiswa <\/em>focussing<em>\u00c2\u00a0<\/em>on the book written by great Indonesian philosopher Hamka entitled<em> &#8220;PERIBADI&#8221;\u00c2\u00a0<\/em>was held at HS Square from 5.30 p.m until 6.20 p.m on Thursday (15 September) to inspire students to build a strong identity that could transform them into agents of change for society in the future.<\/p>\n<p>This book was reviewed by Siti Nur Atiqah, a third year communication student.<\/p>\n<p>According to Siti Nur Atiqah, the main objective of this discussion is to explore Hamka&#8217;s writing on how he built his personality to became a famous scholar in the hope that this could increase awareness on the role of students as agents of change for society.<\/p>\n<p>In this discussion Atiqah analysed the definition of\u00c2\u00a0<em>Peribadi\u00c2\u00a0<\/em> as\u00c2\u00a0<em>Akhlak\u00c2\u00a0<\/em>that covered our actions, words and values with other people.<\/p>\n<p>One of the participants, Qamarul Ikhwan, a psychology student, said, &#8220;The discussion gave us the opportunity to\u00c2\u00a0reflect on the need for a strong identity to be created in us as mentioned by Hamka in his book.<\/p>\n<p>Qamarul added, &#8220;I really like the opinion expressed by the presenter. Quoting Hamka&#8217;s words, the presenter pointed out the need to be bold in facing challenges without being insane. We need to have the courage in whatever we are doing. What&#8217;s exactly meant by Hamka is that we must dare to be brave, but with knowledge.
