{"id":107238,"date":"2016-05-07T12:00:30","date_gmt":"2016-05-07T04:00:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/news.iium.edu.my\/?p=107238"},"modified":"2016-05-07T09:47:56","modified_gmt":"2016-05-07T01:47:56","slug":"campaign-successfully-registered-1093-iium-students-as-voters","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.iium.edu.my\/?p=107238","title":{"rendered":"Campaign successfully registered 1,093 IIUM students as voters"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em>By Atiqah Ismail<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>GOMBAK, 4 May 2016: The voters registration campaign had successfully resulted in 1,093 IIUM students being registered within four days, last week.<\/p>\n<p>\u0153I am satisfied with the responses and involvement of students during this campaign since it is actually our first time do in our campus,\u009d said Chairperson of Information and Multimedia Secretariat of SRC 15\/16, Ismail Johari.<\/p>\n<p>The registration counters were opened at four kulliyyah which are Kulliyyah of Information and Communication Technology (KICT), Kulliyyah of Architecture and Environmental Design (KAED), Kulliyyah of Economic and Management Sciences (KENMS) and the Human Sciences Building.<\/p>\n<p>\u0153This campaign is also aimed to provide the IIUM local community with a platform to register as voters for upcoming general election and to raise awareness about the importance of participation in general election among Malaysian citizens especially students and registered voters,\u009d said Ismail.<\/p>\n<p>According to statistics reported by the Election Commission or <em>Suruhanjaya Pilihan Raya<\/em> more than 4.2 Malaysians who are eligible to vote are not registered as voters.
