GOMBAK, 25 April 2016: In a matter of months, speculated to be around June, the new IIUM Teaching Hospital located at IIUMs Kuantan campus will officially be in service for students and patients to utilise.<\/p>\n

It was reported that the Student Representative Council (SRC) of the Kulliyah of Medicine in IIUM Kuantan was among the first to be briefed and even given a tour around the new hospital.<\/p>\n

IIUMToday was able to speak to Vice President of the SRC for the Kullliyah of Medicine, Nur Zawani Zainon, and SRC Chairperson of Welfare for the Kulliyah of Medicine, Amir Fadzli, for details regarding the hospital and how it would affect the medical students of IIUM as it is a part of the medical course for third year students and above to continue their education in a hospital.<\/p>\n

According to Zawani, the environment of the hospital is crucial for the learning experience of medical students because it is there where they will begin conducting\u00c2\u00a0their practical training on real patients such as performing physical examinations, surgeries, medical treatments, and many more. As for the environment of the IIUM Teaching Hospital, Zawani only has good things to say.<\/p>\n

\u0153The new hospital is very student friendly and has\u00c2\u00a0facilities way better than the other hospitals IIUM medical students would usually be sent to,\u009d she shared.<\/p>\n

Currently, third\u00c2\u00a0year students and above would continue with their medical course either at Hospital Tengku Ampuan Afzan, Hospital Sultan Ahmad Shah Temerloh or Hospital Pekan, but with the opening of IIUM Teaching Hospital, a portion of the students would be able to enjoy the luxury of studying there instead.<\/p>\n

The new hospital will have more than 100 practicing doctors who will be teaching, managing and directing about five students each.<\/p>\n

Aside from that, Amir on the other hand, said that \u0153IIUM Teaching Hospital is 100 percent Syariah compliant.\u009d It means that the hospital will be incorporating Islamic principles into its establishment.<\/p>\n

From what Amir shared, examples of this idea can be seen in the way the beds are aligned towards the direction of the kiblat for patients to easily pray without having to get up. Doctors will also have ablution kits with them which allows them to perform their ablution anywhere they go.<\/p>\n
