THIS year, World Habitat Day (WHD) is celebrated on Oct 5 (the first Monday of October). Celebrated annually since 1986, WHD reminds urban planners and urban residents of two fundamental things ” one, the basic human right of every urban dweller to have adequate shelter, and two, their collective duty to ensure a sustainable habitat for future generations. A quick and honest reflection at this moment in time can tell us if we have achieved a good scorecard all these years.
