GOMBAK, 6 October 2015: Another milestone has been created when International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) and Islamic Research and Training Institute (IRTI) on 30 September signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) that paved the way for IIUM to host the 11th International Conference on Islamic Economic and Finance in October next year.
The signing ceremony took place at 9.00 a.m at the Rectors office witnessed by Director General of Islamic Development Bank (IDB), Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mohd Azmi Omar, Project Officer, Mohd Takiyuddin Yahya, Dean of Kulliyyah of Economic and Management Sciences (KENMS), Prof. Dr. Maliah Sulaiman, Project Director, Prof. Mohamad Aslam Mohamad Haneef, and lecturers from KENMS.
The main objective of this MoU is to continue the collaboration between IRTI and IIUM to find solution to Islamic economic and finances for the Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC) countries. The Conference next year will be historic because it is the second time for IIUM to host after 40 years.
Rector, Prof. Dato Sri Dr. Zaleha Kamaruddin, in her remarks at the ceremony said, “It is an honour for IIUM to be the host after 40 years, the first Conference was held in Makkah. Besides, this Conference has become the preferred conference for scholars and the academic globally.***
