GOMBAK, 26 August 2015: The International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) emerged champion of ASEAN Arabic Debate Championship 2015 organised by the Islamic Science University of Malaysia (USIM).
UIAM œA, comprising Ahmad Radhi Ramlan, Muhammad Redha Mohamed Elyas, Nur Faiezah Mohamed and Muhammad Izzat Hashim, became the pride of IIUM after defeating University of Malaya (UM) œA in a very tight Final Round debate on the topic œCooperation between ASEAN Countries is Crucial in Fighting Against Terrorism.

The UIAM “A” team received a cash prize of RM4,000, a challenge trophy, individual trophies and certificates of participation. Prizes were presented by the Deputy Minister in the Prime Ministers Department, Senator Datuk Dr. Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki, who before that, officially closed the Ihtifal IPT ASEAN 2015.

Meanwhile, UIAM œB, comprising Muhammad Hafizzudin Zakaria, Muhammad Nazri Rostam, Muhammad Nurfirman Mohamed and Nurul Rafah Syazwani Rahmat, emerged fourth place in the Championship. They received a cash prize of RM700, individual trophies and certificates of participation.

ASEAN Arabic Debate Championship was held in conjunction with Ihtifal IPT ASEAN 2015 from 20 to 23 August 2015 in USIM campus, Nilai, Negeri Sembilan. A total of 16 teams from 12 universities from Malaysia and Indonesia participated in the Championship.***
