ON July 22, when Chief Minister Tan Sri Adenan Satem spoke at a ceremony to mark Sarawaks attainment of self-government on that date in 1963, he unfortunately gave voice to some in the state trying to drum up public animosity towards œMalaya as colonial overlord, when he said that in helping form the new Federation of Malaysia later that same year, Sarawak did not intend to trade in British colonial overlordship with that by the new federation.
