GOMBAK, 5 August 2015: The International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) held a special Hari Raya celebration 2015 with the IIUM community and special guests.
The gathering which took place at the Culture Activity Centre (CAC) was attended by IIUMs constitutional head, His Royal Highness Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah and his consort, Her Royal Highness Sultanah Kalsom.
Those who attended the celebration included Tan Sri Dr. Rais Yatim accompanied by his wife, Puan Sri Masnah Rais, and officials from diplomatic missions in Kuala Lumpur and senior management officials of IIUM.
In his welcoming speech, Tan Sri Rais said that the celebration was a reminder of the close friendship among members of IIUM and guests.
“I hope this university will continue with its success and enjoy good fortune,” he added.
Almost 2,000 guests and the university community comprising lecturers, staffs and students attended the celebration.
His Royal Highness Tuanku Sultan Pahang also gave ˜duit raya to 14 children of Educare IIUM and to several representatives of the Orang Asli residing around Gombak.
At the function, the CEO of Etiqa Takaful Berhad, Ahmad Rizlan Ahmad presented the company’s corporate zakat to IIUM Endowment Fund (IEF) amounting RM480,000. The zakat will be distributed to needy students.
There was a performance by the Orang Asli and also a special performance from Centre for International Islamic Culture (CiTRA-IIUM) held during the celebration.***
