BLEEDING-EDGE intelligence technology, the whole rigmarole of spy satellites and their attendant enablers, is claimed by the manufacturers and using nations alike as able to detect the individual, irrespective of where he or she is. It is said to be able to read registration plates of vehicles. It has the wherewithal to snoop, spy and intrude with impunity. What is claimed for it tells of a world where if specific powerful nations takes the fancy, nobody is able to live below radar. Hollywood has produced blockbusters around this claim of a world no longer respecting of privacy because it has the technology to disregard it, but done covertly. Only whistle-blowers ” a new phenomenon born of this reality ” have turned this myth into actuality, one that has demonstrated the length of Washingtons intelligence reach.
