NO one can blame Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak for making what, to many, was a drastic move in reshuffling his cabinet on Tuesday. Besieged by various allegations of wrongdoings in recent months, Najib did what any leader would do, that is, to shore up his administrations position to give them ample room to govern. It must be noted that the now controversial 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) is not the only challenge faced by Najibs cabinet. There are other pertinent issues making the rakyat increasingly restless, including the seemingly higher cost of living and the weakening of the ringgit. The government has made known of its desire to get to the bottom of the 1MDB issue. A task force and a parliamentary-level committee to investigate what really happened have been working to do just that. All that was asked for was some degree of patience before the truth can be uncovered. The last thing the Najib administration needed was a challenge to its legitimacy to govern.
