GOMBAK, 27 July 2015: The 15th Architectural Heritage Studies with the theme ˜Islamic Kin through Architectural Tradition will be held on 17 until 22 August 2015 organised by final year students in Bachelor of Science in Architectural studies.
This exhibition will take place at the Kulliyyah of Architecture and Environmental Design (KAED) aimed at giving an introduction to the public on the Islamic heritage buildings around Southeast Asia and its influence in the society.
An annual event, the Architectural Heritage Studies will showcase the documentation of the historical background of the buildings and it also intended to exhibit and examine the student capability after their three years’ studies in architecture. Part of Southeast Asia, Malaysia and Indonesia were selected based on their historical link to Islamic culture.
There are four buildings that will be presented during the exhibition, which are Masjid Agung Sumenep (Madura, Indonesia), Masjid Dato’ Panglima Kinta (Ipoh, Perak), Masjid Bandar Kuching (Kuching, Sarawak) and Rumah Dato‘ Bandaro Kuniang (Tanah Datar, Indonesia).
This exhibition is another effort by the architecture students to help us understand how our architectural tradition and heritage culture play an important role in the development of Islamic society and its sustainability throughout times.
