Heart to Heart Session with IIUM Rector

GOMBAK: Several issues were thrashed out at a meeting between the Rector and student leaders. Some of the issues that were voiced out from the social media were clarified during the dialogue that was organised by the Student Affairs and Development Division (STADD).

This one night event was attended by 75 students’ leaders representing all clubs and societies in IIUM.

“Students tend to speak through the social media. Whether it is true or not, it is based on their own assumption,” said Senior Assistant Director of STADD, Subki bin Ahmad.

“The university feels it is responsible to give students the right information. This dialogue session is a channel for all the presidents of clubs and societies to ask whatever questions they feel are necessary, thus prompting an immediate reply from the rector

The objectives of the programme were to appreciate the commitment and sacrifice of student leaders in leading societies and clubs. It was also aimed to understand issues from the students’ point of view and at the same time to show support to the leaders.

Subki, who was also the Program Manager, said this concern of giving students the opportunity to speak up issues through the right platform was initiated by the Office of the Rector. STADD was given the responsibility to organize.

The event started out with dinner at 8.30 p.m. at Banquet Hall of CAC, and ended around 11.30 p.m.
