GOMBAK, 10 July 2015: Ramadan is a month that gives opportunity for everyone to have iftar or breaking of fast with their family and friends. For IIUM students who are on their short semester session, it is a chance to have iftar with their friends and lecturers.

This time around, Communication student, Arshad Hamid, had organised an iftar gathering for his fellow friends at the home of the head of Communication Department, Dr. Zeti Azreen Ahmad.

The guests arrived at around 6.30 p.m to prepare the venue for the iftar as the gathering theme was ‘pot-luck’. Everyone brought his or her own food, to be shared with the others. After finishing all preparations,  everyone waited for the azan, they broke fast with some dates, refreshment and fruits before proceeding for the maghrib prayer which was led by Wan Ahmad Khairi, ex-Student Representative Council member for welfare and secretariat.

“I am happy that we all can gather here and break fast together. This Ramadan should be the month of gathering for all of us and I am here to take the opportunity to bring Communication students for an iftar together with beloved friends and lecturers. I hope  students would do this programme again,” said Arshad who will be graduating soon.

Dr. Zeti who helped in organising the iftar was happy to see her students there to enliven the gathering. “I am happy to see my students took such initiative to gather among themselves for the iftar,” Dr. Zeti said during the gathering.

Among the lecturers who attended the iftar that evening were Madam Mazni Buyong and Mr. Amran Baharom.***
