DEFENCE, when attack is implausible, becomes arguably the most important sector for a nation. In fact, for small nations where defence is inevitable because aggression is out of the question, more than military equipment is needed. Nevertheless, the hardware available, limited as it is, must be protected from all prying eyes or it will quickly be made useless in the event of an attack, as it would be the enemy’s primary strategy to decimate the military capabilities of a country, especially its air defence capability. Therefore, when one of the nation’s most important air bases is found to be improperly secured, the reaction is necessarily one of shock and disbelief.
