IN April 2009, the then inspector-general of police Tan Sri Musa Hassan told reporters that Mat Rempit were a group of youngsters who were violent and brazen instead of just being a public nuisance. Today, six years after his comment, Mat Rempit have not only remained a public nuisance but have also caused untold suffering to many. Three years ago, I highlighted my concerns that they might grow not only in numbers but also in their criminal activities.
