No excuse for negligent parents

CHILDREN cannot be the victims of parental or adult neglect. Caregivers cannot but be held accountable when children suffer. Period. For, any apologies that seek to excuse parents, especially, and adults, generally, when a child is hurt or, worse, dies of an accident, is nothing short of a betrayal. A profound trust ” the safekeeping of an innocent, little life ” is betrayed. While most environments may appear generally safe, rest assured that even a seemingly benign space can have danger lurking without respite. What more in situations regarded as potentially dangerous! For instance, escalators appear to a child as inordinately full of fun. This moving walkway that gets you from A to B without effort can theoretically tickle a child pink but every adult should know that it is dangerous and children cannot be left alone to play on or near an escalator. It is not a playground. In fact, it is fair to say that even the playground requires continuous adult supervision.
