KL shares higher at mid-day

KUALA LUMPUR: The benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) remained in positive territory today, supported by buying interest in selected heavyweights led by Petronas Chemicals and IHH Healthcare. At lunch break, the index rose 4.32 points to 1,822.59, after moving between 1,819.07 and 1,830.9 throughout the morning session. Petronas Chemicals jumped 15 sen to RM6.02 and IHH Healthcare climbed seven sen to RM5.99. However, market breadth was negative with losers edging gainers 344 to 329, while 297 counters were unchanged, 840 untraded and 35 others suspended. Turnover stood at 831.80 million shares worth RM764.64 million. Of the heavyweights, Maybank added four sen to RM9.25, Public Bank gained two sen to RM19.50, while TNB lost 18 sen to RM14.18. On the scoreboard, the FBM Emas Index appreciated 24.53 points to 12,563.57, the FBMT100 Index rose 22.94 points to 12,243.45, the FBM Emas Shariah garnered 8.26 points to 13,082.17 and the FBM 70 improved 2.21 points to 13,617.91.
