It’s “Girls’ Hour”

GOMBAK, 5 May 2015: Public Relations bureau of the Student Representative Council (SRC) conducted a heart-to-heart talk regarding fashion on the title, œWomen Fashion Sense: Muslimah Syariah at the Mini Auditorium recently (29 April). The talk was one of the series of Girls Hour event that was conducted from time to time every Wednesdays evening.

Girls Hour is an event that is targeted at ladies and it touches on issues like women empowerment, health, fashion, security and self-defence, and confidence. The programme manager saw the importance of this event as it provided more tips to the students to be fashionable while still following the syariah. Other than that, through this programme, the knowledge gained could be applied in daily life and will result in enhancement of self-esteem.

The speaker who was invited was Syahirah Zakaria, one of IIUM students who is majoring in law. Syahirah Zakaria is one of fashion and style bloggers and was at the event to discuss issues related to fashion that is syariah compliance and giving out hijab tutorial for the sisters.

The programme manager of the event, Wan Aida Liyana, said these series will be continued weekly on Wednesday to touch more on issues related to the female students of IIUM.

œThis programme will not just end for this semester, but Insya Allah we are working on to carry this event in the future as well. There are plans related to this event for next semester, said Aida Liyana. ***
