By Rahibah Mohamad

As students, we should know how to manage our finance well. We should have a plan to save our money even a little before we graduate A little planning can make a big difference. So, here I want to share some tips with you especially as students on how to save and manage our money wisely.

For a good start, we must use our money according to our priority. First, we should solve our tuition fees.Pay on time! Dont be late! Make it a habit of paying our fees on time, every time, and every semester. So that we can avoid wasting money on late fees.

Second, we should wait to buy any textbook. It is because usually we may not need every book for the semester. Some lecturers also do not use the textbook but only refer to their own reference. We must hold off until we have a syllabus of every subject each semester in hand before we spend our money to buy textbooks. Then we can buy the book once we have the syllabus or we can print the important note from the lecturers.

Third, we should not miss the opportunity as a student! We can use students’ discount when we shop. Before we buy anything that we need, we must find out if there is a student discount for it. We can use the internet to search things or items that have discounts for students. Moreover, we can save our money on everything from movie ticket or shopping to the items that we really need as students.

Fourth, we should have the right meal plan. If possible, plan it for everyday! We should save our money from buying the biggest meal that is expensive. It is because, sometimes when we are hungry, we tend to buy so much food but we may not eat as much as we think. We should start with smaller plan to list and figure out how many meals we really eat.

Last but not least, we should get the opportunities to participate in any social events or programme which come with free food! So we can save our money for other things that we need to buy or we can save our money at the bank.***
