FORTY-EIGHT years ago, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations was established, and I daresay the spirit of Asean is still alive, given that the grouping has not only made its presence felt globally, but that as an entity, it has made significant strides in the social, political and economic arenas. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak has highlighted the importance of the Asean Economic Community in boosting growth, jobs and investments (œPM: AEC crucial for region ” NST, April 25).
