Food is always a hot topic that has been frequently discussed among students in IIUM. There are many restaurants in IIUM, including the Mahallah cafes and cafes of the Kulliyyah. Some of the restaurants have got their own signatures that attract students to come all the way from their respective Mahallah to try their food.
Top one food in the Mahallah Ali would definitely be the yogurt sold by Somali restaurant. We usually see many students come all the way to Ali just to try their yogurt. When you ask them what makes their yogurt so different from others, they would say that their yogurt is the purist ones among others. There are other answers for examples, the price is cheap, and the amount of yogurt they are giving is substantial.
As for Mahallah Faruqh, of course, the Chinese food would be favourite for locals as well as internationals. Most students go there to eat their dumplings and fried noddle. Their food is authentic Chinese food, therefore, students can experience the different dining culture without going to China itself. This is the best reason that motivates students to come all the way to Faruqh.
The most famous food from the cafe of Ruqhayya is the chicken roll called œKabab. When you go to that cafe, you can always find the queue for their food is very long. The main stuff inside of the bread is chicken and cabbage with chili sauce. The different nationalities of the customers are the best illustrations for the popularity of their food.***
