TITIWANGSA, 25 April 2015: A harmonious event of busking was organised by IIUM students from Acoustic band Club at Taman Tasik Titiwangsa with collaboration of IIUM Andeka Caklempong Club. The event, also known as ˜The Busking Project 2.0, was made possible for the second time by the joint effort of these two clubs.

The first busking project was held two years ago, in 2013. About 70 students were involved to materialise the event which started from 10 a.m and finished till late evening at around 6 p.m.

Both clubs were having the busking show to promote their clubs to the outsider, and also as a fund raising activity. Besides entertaining and fund raising, they managed to advertise IIUM to the public.

People started to be aware of the talents among IIUM students. Almost 30 songs comprising genre from traditional and contemporary were played along the event. All the chosen songs, such as zapin budi, kelok traditional, cindai, and laksamana raja dilaut were to uplift the warisan budaya of the Malay culture. Although going through modernisation, the students are still holding to the culture of their ancestor.

Not to forget alumni from IIUM, who were previously part of the clubs, were also involved as musicians for the event. Although they have graduated from the University, they still come with the spirit to help their juniors to make the event a successful one. Another person who made such event realised was the trainer for IIUM Acoustic Band club, Cikgu Ku Zahir Ku Ahmad. He conducted all the songs played throughout the busking show.

Added to these two clubs, IIUM Percussion Club was also accompanying each performance from Acoustic band and Andeka Caklempong.

œI feel amused with the performance of these students because they are not from music-based school, but they can play really well, said Liyana Rozali, one of the visitors who happened to cross the event while jogging at the park.

It was a highlight of the day for both clubs at Taman Tasik Titiwangsa. The public seemed to enjoy the show performed by the students. With all the excitement, the students hoped to replicate the event in the near future***
