KUALA LUMPUR: Bursa Malaysia was marginally higher at mid-afternoon today with earlier gains dragged down by mild profit-taking in selected blue-chips. At 3 pm, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) stood at 1,841.53 points, up 1.40 points, compared to a peak of 1,849.22 in the early session. Buying support from finance-related companies were seen supporting the bourse with Maybank chalking up a 12 sen gain to RM9.46 and Public Bank improving 18 sen to RM19.20. Other leading movers in the composite index component stocks were IHH Healthcare (up 11 sen to RM5.83), SapuraKencana (up six sen to RM2.66) and, Tenaga (up six sen to RM14.46). Among active stocks, Frontken and Perisai advanced one sen each to 25.5 sen and 58.54 sen respectively, while Xinghe was flat at eight sen and DGB Asia rose half-a-sen to 14 sen. For other barometers, the FBM Emas Index was 22.4 points higher at 12,686.33, the FBMT100 Index rose 19.57 points to 12,354.70 and the FBM Emas Shariah Index improved 25.36 points to 13,230.00. The FBM 70 surged 60.95 points to 13,680.80, and the FBM Ace edged up 3.74 points to 7,269.93. Meanwhile on a sectoral basis, the Finance Index bagged 44.60 points to 16,318.10, the Plantation Index climbed 4.40 points to 7,732.98.But the Industrial Index eased 4.22 points to 3,406.27.
