GOMBAK, 14 April 2015: Dean of Kulliyyah of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences (IRKHS), Prof. Dr Ibrahim M. Zein, today officially launched the speaker’s corner, KIRKHS and The Square. Accompanying the Dean to the launching ceremony were the Deputy Dean of Student Affairs, Prof Dr. Akmal Khuzairy Abd Rahman, and lecturers from the Kulliyyah.
The Square is one of the platform given by the kulliyyah for the student to voice out their thought and opinion on every topic they like. The topics are not just confined to education but also open to topics on political, economic, social and current affairs. Nevertheless students were reminded to be ethical and take full responsibility on what they speak.
The Square is one of the initiatives for the students to build their leadership skills.
“The Square is not purposely for the student to stand and just give a speech, perhaps its a way for the students to have some interactions in order to build the leadership as a set of skill, said  Prof. Dr. Ibrahim.
The Kulliyyah is also in progress to upgrade The Square by providing the free wall for the students to put some touch on the wall by creating and placing the murals based on student creativity.
To date, this is the second initiative by the Kulliyyah after the open mic placed next to the river. However, due to lack of support from the students, the Kulliyyah decided to spread the wing by bringing it closer to Kulliyyah to make it become a culture for the students.
œIt’s a great platform created by the Kulliyyah for students to voice out anything that they like rather than caged themselves in everything inside and become too scared to voice, and I am pretty excited to give it a try, said Afifah Toklubok, an IRK student.***
