KUALA LUMPUR: The benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) ended the morning session 1.06 points better at 1,845.37, spurred by light buying in small-capitalised stocks and selected blue-chips. The key index moved between 1,842.89 and 1,847.50 throughout the session. MISC Bhd was the top contributor to the composite indexs increase. It rose 22 sen to RM9.18, with 980,200 shares traded. Other leading movers in the composite index component stocks were Maybank which added nine sen to RM9.46, Genting Malaysia gaining 11 sen to RM4.53, while Petronas Chemicals edged up five sen to RM5.69. On other scoreboard, the FBM Emas Index eased 0.72 of-a-point to 12,661.74, FBMT100 Index decreased 3.42 points to 12,345.33 and the FBM Emas Shariah Index fell 16.16 points to 13,199.45. The FBM 70 went down 44.46 points to 14,324.17 and the FBM Ace slipped 10.47 points to 7,113.83. On a sectoral basis, the Industrial Index added 16.68 points to 3,417.80 and the Finance Index advanced 20.65 points to 16,346.51. The Plantation Index trimmed 21.53 points to 7,773.02. On the broader market, market breadth was positive with gainers outpacing decliners 367 to 319 while 323 counters were unchanged, 793 untraded and 12 others were suspended. Turnover stood at 1.09 billion shares worth RM677.26 million.
