GOMBAK, 7 April 2015: Students and graduates who need guidance on making a career in their industry should attend the two-day Career and Internship Fair (ICIF) held at the Cultural Activity Centre, International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM).

The event, which was officiated today by the Rector of IIUM, Prof. Dato Dr. Zaleha Kamaruddin, has a special focus on finding the right fit for job seekers and identifying career paths for graduating students.

Career coaches are on hand at the fair to offer assistance and even profiling seminars to better match a student to a job suited to his or her interest, strengths and personality. Visitors can also get guidance on how to navigate in their respective fields.

Speaking exclusively to IIUMToday, the chairperson of the ICIF, Dr. Khadijah Mohd Isa, stressed the importance of continuous skills, upgrading even for fresh graduates so that they remain relevant in the job market.

“For fresh graduates, it is always a challenge to find the ideal job to match their expectations, Dr. Khadijah said.

However, she added that the important thing for the graduates to do is to be aware of the expanding industries as well as to be prepared, by attending relevant skills training for their own benefit.

Dr. Khadijah said by attaining new skills and meet the needs of the emerging markets and new technology, œthe career prospects, even for fresh graduates, will be brighter than ever.”

She later added: œWe hope to be able to create multiple routes where our students, regardless of their training, background and skills, will be able to find career paths that can fit into their expectations, that they can actually develop and thrive.”
