The Global IIUM Alumni Homecoming 2014

GOMBAK: For the first time in 30 years, alumni from all over the world are invited to reunite back at their beloved university, International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). Originally proposed by the university’s Rector, Prof. Dato Sri Dr. Zaleha Kamaruddin, The Global IIUM Alumni Homecoming 2014 will be held in 5 days, from 11th until 15th June 2014, at the Cultural Activity Centre (CAC) of IIUM and Hotel Istana, Kuala Lumpur.

The main objective of this event is obviously to promote better networking, reconnection and exchange of experiences between the alumni. In addition, it is to strengthen the ukhuwwah between the attendees and to bring back their memories of being in IIUM.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wahabuddin Ra’ees, the Director of Alumni and Career Services Division said that œWe’re expecting around 300 to 400 international and 1000 local alumni to attend. All of them are coming from various states, backgrounds and fields of study. Alumni and Career Services Division has already started the invitation to all alumni through mailing the hard copy print and email.

“I am proud that our alumni are in a good position to lead the way and to make positive changes in the society,” Prof. Dato’ Sri Dr. Zaleha Kamarudin added.

During the five-days homecoming event, there will be a lot of interesting happenings such as the Opening Ceremony and the Roundtable Session at the CAC, Gala Dinner at Hotel Istana, as well as Golf  Tournament, and Alumni vacation packages and showcase stories. This series of events will be grandeur as it sounds because œWe’re expecting The Honourable Tan Sri Dato Muhyiddin Bin Hj. Mohd Yassin, the Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia, to be at the Opening Ceremony and to highlight, His Royal Highness the Sultan of Pahang Haji Ahmad Shah Al-Mustain Billah Ibni Al-Marhum Al-Sultan Abu Riayatuddin Al-Muadzam Shah will also be the Guest of Honour at The Gala Dinner, Hotel Istana, said Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wahabuddin Ra’ees.

Moreover, there will also be cultural performances from Centre for International Islamic Culture (CiTRA-IIUM) and Award ceremony for successful alumni. Last but not least, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wahabuddin Ra’ees further noticed that œThis may not be an annual event but it is the beginning of many more events to come.
