GOMBAK, 30 March 2015: A programme is specifically organised by the IIUM Endowment Fund with Prudential BSN Takaful to benefit the recipients in the form of corporate zakat contribution. The financial assistance will go towards financing the education of both local and international students who obtain a good grade in their studies but face financial difficulties to support their education.
The Rector, Prof. Dato’ Sri Dr. Zaleha Kamaruddin, said: “Poor students cannot proceed with their study without financial assistance although they are academically successful. So, this financial assistance is very important for the survival of the needy students.”
“This is a university for the ummah and such financial assistance would help reduce financial burden for students to complete their study in IIUM,” she added.
By giving the charity to the students, it does not only help them to pursue their study but also help to strengthen Muslim ummah. In addition, those who give charity will get rewards from Allah for their good deed.
Allah S.W.T mentioned in Quran:
Those who (in charity) spend of their goods by night and by day, in secret and in public, have their reward with their Lord: on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve. [2: Al-Baqarah-274]
The Chief Executive Officer of Prudential BSN Takaful, Azim Mithani said: “For us education is very important, and to help you (students) is our honour because you are the future leaders of Malaysia. We therefore look forward to help the needy students.”
The IIUM Endowment Fund welcome wholeheartedly any individual and organisation who would like to make any contribution to the students. The fund will ensure that the financial assistance will be channelled to the right recipients.***
