GOMBAK, 26 February 2015 : The first mass gathering of IIUM Percussion Club this semester was attended by some 40 members including the new ones at Percussion Room.
œThe purpose of this gathering is to strengthen the bond between existing members and the new ones. Besides that, this gathering is aimed at giving a brief view about Percussion Club, said Ali Hidayati Mohamad, the new president of Percussion Club.
He said through this gathering, new members would be able to get to know the board of directors who are leading the activities of the club.
The first slot was a short reminder by Muaz who spoke on the importance of honesty when joining a society or a club as members because they should not join the club for the sake of seeking popularity.
Ali Hidayati hoped that each member would give their full support and commitment to attend every training session as well as to enjoy themselves while performing the shows.
New members were recruited through audition held on 18 February. Out of 25 who attended the audition, only 16 have been selected. And this has brought a total of 50 members officially registered with Percussion Club.
œI felt very honoured to be in this awesome club. This club has given me the best platform to enhance my skills in playing percussion with the guidance of a trainer and senior members. I really fall in love with the atmosphere and the feeling of togetherness in this club, œ said Wan Akram Khubaib Wan Jaffree, a law student who will be graduating at the end of this semester. He is one of the oldest members of this club.
The event was closed by a funky performance of percussion repertoire by senior members of the club as others were enjoying their dinner together. The event ended around 10:15 p.m.
