To be selected as a reporter for œIIUMTODAY is like a dream come true. And it is also a big challenge to me. I love to be part of society where I can converse and from there draw inspiration to be better. Some friends asked me why I must have the courage to challenge the unknown: I could possibly drown in the deep ocean or I could successfully swim to the end of the ocean. That is me. I love taking risks.
I do not care when people say my English is bad. That is criticism. I take it positively. I will try my best to improve my English. Show me other defects and I will perfect them. If we keep on trying to do something better , insyaALLAH, Allah will grant a piece of heaven that we can taste. A taste far sweeter than the efforts invested.
I do not want to waste my teenage years feeling desperate always following particular social norms and hiding our unique and wonderful identities. It seems unavoidable that the young feel that they have to be inducted into this idea of conformity. I once read that its okay to be hated for who you are and what you believe in rather than be adored for what you are not.
I want my generations to wake up from their comfort zone. It is time to stop the idle sitting and updating on Facebook, or to be the best twitter famous, or to get more likes on Instagram. Those wont lead you nowhere. We are the future leaders. We should be thankful for the Internet but we must know how to make good use of it.
In my department (Communication) there are so many students who can lead, who can talk in public .The ability to speak in public is ain’t easy to do if you do not have the guts to do so. They have talents but they hide them from others. Why? These students are afraid of being judged. They are afraid to be the best. They suffer the bad experience when others belittled them. They felt humiliated. I wish I could hold their hands and tell tell them that they are really good and they can be somebody one day.Somebody who can inspire others.
I hope I can be someone; somebody to inspire people others in the future. Although young in 20s, I am encouraged and inspired by so many people around me to be better, to move always ahead, always to do better. One fine day insyaALLAH. I urge all to be positive. its not your critics who will decide your future. GO swim upstream. Be on your own. Believe in yourself, have faith, insyaALLAH we going to make it. Allah is there to guide us.
